ABOUT ME
Welcome to my page! My name is Ashley O'Brien and I am the breeder here at R3 Sport Dogs. We are located in the heart of the central valley; approximately 1.5 hours from San Francisco and Sacramento. We live on a small ranchette which gives our dogs plenty of room to run and enjoy life as well as exposure to new sounds and livestock!
My Story
Where it all started.. Growing up we purchased an AKC Golden Retriever named "Shelby" from a breeder in the Bay Area. Shelby was an amazing family dog for our family of 6. She loved living on the ranch, running through the pastures, playing fetch, and swimming in the pool! However, she suffered many health issues that started at a young age. Unfortunately, we lost Shelby at a young age and spent many years before bringing home new companions. In 2015 we brought home a border collie/dachshund mix and a border collie/Queensland mix. I always had a love for the border collie breed, however after adopting two border collie mixes my love for the breed quickly escalated.
In 2019, I purchased my first AKC/ABCA border collie from a reputable breeder out of Texas and another AKC Golden from a local reputable breeder. From the beginning my intention was set on doing my part in helping better the breed. I spent months planning and learning as much as I could retain about the breeding process from other breeders, trainers, and my veterinarians that have been there every step of the way to help guide me through the process with their best input!

My breeding program began with these two dogs and started my line. Since then I have added many dogs to my program and continue to produce working and show line dogs. Our program consists solely of fully health tested and OFA clear sires and dams. Our goal is to continue to deliver well bred puppies to individuals and families around the country. We look forward to matching you with your fur-ever four legged friend in the future!
